Topic: Kete at Software Freedom Day 2008 in Wellington
Topic type:
I'll be attending the Software Freedom Day 2008 festivities in Wellington to talk about Kete and be apart of the Hackfest.
From http://softwarefreedomday.org.nz/:
"Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) to be held this year on Saturday 20th September, 2008. Our goal in this celebration is to educate the worldwide public about the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education, in government, at home, and in business -- in short, everywhere!"
I'll be at the Wellington Convention Centre event. The official activities go from noon to 6pm, but I may not be there the whole time. So if you want to ask questions about Kete or help out by coding during the Hackfest, feel free to drop me a line at walter -a t- katipo dot co .nz.

I just gave a half hour introduction to Kete the software and Kete the Open Source project at the Hackfest. A little disorganized on my part, but people seemed to "get it". Definitely rewarding.
One lesson though, always have a VGA output adaptor for projectors. I've been meaning to pick one up, but hadn't yet. It's always disconcerting when the presentation you had planned is on another computer than the one you are stuck using.
