Topic: Open Source Digital Archive 2.0 : The Kete Project

Topic type:

The birth of an open source Web 2.0 tool for a community built digital archive.

Who are we ? This project has been launched by the Horowhenua Library Trust of New Zealand in partnership with the Horowhenua District Council and Seniornet Horowhenua.

The development of the software is in the hands of Katipo Communications.

The whole project is possible because of a grant from the Community Partnership Fund of the New Zealand government’s National Digital Strategy.

Katipo Communications and the Horowhenua Library Trust were responsible for the creation of Koha software, a library management system (ILS). This open source software is now well-established and used world-wide, including USA, France, Argentina, Cyprus, and India.
