Topic: It's addictive!

Topic type:

Kete is almost ready and it is great - although it should probably carry a warning! I started playing at home last night, adding a few digital photos from my home PC, wanting to test the Kete software and make sure all the obvious bugs had been reported.... So I loaded a photo of wench and a knight at the Medieval Market, and then wrote a topic on the Market, and then added a link to the Medieval Market website, and then I wrote a topic on the Ravens Medieval re-enactment group, and so had to add 2 more photos of the knights fighting, then looked around for the wee video clip of them fighting a few years back .... That killed an hour or so ... and I don't know what possessed me to write about the Tararuas, because then I had to write a linked topic for the Tararua Forest Park, and the Tararua Tramping club, and then the local Levin Waiopehu Tramping Club, and then there was Wilf Ransom who was an original member who helped build their first hut, and so he needed his biography topic written, and then I had his family album there with all his family so 3 other linked biographies had to be written, and that led on to his great nephew who is a successful local businessman of the town so I had to write an organisation topic for that local business and link to his website, and then I had a photo of said nephew so had to put that in and write his biography and he was fishing so had to write a topic about fishing at Waitarere beach which meant that I had to write a topic about the local anglers club ..... 4 hours later I finally went to bed .......... So, in summary, it is so easy and addictive to 'just add 1 more photo' or 'just link to that' or 'I'll just expand on that bit there' or ....... and so on. The unofficial launch of the software is set for the 5th March, and then we'll spend a few months populating the database before our big public launch . It is shaping up to be a truly beautiful piece of work. I am very proud of it....
