Topic: The Software has been launched

Topic type:

What a great day today has been! Kete Horowhenua was presented to our volunteers and partners today, in a lovely, low key, ceremony at Levin Library. The software was declared officially launched by Darren Hughes, Member of Parliament for Otaki, and Jo gave a 10 minute demonstration which showcased many of the finished features in Kete. It was so wonderful to hear and watch the reactions of our volunteers as they saw the results of their labours appear on screen; especially for Walter, I think, who has put in some really long hours in recent weeks. He is proud of it technically, but to feel the warmth of the users in response to its first outing was pretty special. Its working pretty smoothly (although no doubt there will be bugs) you can create new topics, add new items (video, audio, images, documents & weblinks), you can link them together, edit them all, register for RSS feeds and view the online manual (not quite as elegant as it could be just yet) The only bits which didn't quite make the day were the Past Perfect import, discussion lists, user profiles and flagging items for review - all of which will be up this week. We are horribly over budget so if you like our work and want it for your community, please contribute.
