I am thrilled to be able to announce that 3 other Kete are in production as we speak!
Te Reo o Taranaki Trust and the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Chinese Association are both fellow recipients of grants for Kete work from from the National Digital Strategy: Community Partnerships Fund.
New Plymouth Public Library are partnering with Te Reo o Taranaki Trust and Auckland Public Library with are partnering with the Chinese Association.
Te Reo o Taranaki Trust are addressing functions of particular interest to Maori. These include addressing the issue of various levels of access depending on Iwi affiliations etc, making Kete bi-lingual reflecting our 2 official languages, and enabling the Maori Subject Headings developed by National Library of NZ available for selection when tagging records. They are also looking at building a 'Taranaki word list' of words specific to the Taranaki region.
The Auckland project will create an online Chinese Community, including many digitised archives from the Auckland Library collection. They are also working on federated searching over a number of Auckland Library databases and an preservation issues looking at the OAI work that National Library have been developing.
We are really pleased to welcome these new projects on board. The indefatiguable Rachel, CEO of Katipo Communications will be coordinating the code development of our 3 projects over the next 12 months to ensure the lovely Walter and the rest of the team at Katipo Communications get it all done!
The 3rd Kete installation is for Orange County Libraries, in Florida USA, who commissioned a Kete through LibLime in the States. Liblime received support from Katipo to deliver the Kete.
