I'm just in the middle of answering a query from someone who has a whole bunch of out of copyright stuff that he's interested in making available.  Kete is an obvious recommendation.  However, popping them in a kete and assigning them a CC license is not ideal.  There shouldn't be any requirements assigned because they are out of copyright.

I know that DigitalNZ Kete has the No Known Copyright option.  But I had a wee look and it doesn't appear to be in other kete?

Answer from Walter:

Each Kete site can set up custom license options via Administrator's Toolbox -> administer licenses link (bottom of page if logged in with a site admin account).

Virginia set this up for Kete DigitalNZ.  I would copy the text from there ( http://kete.digitalnz.org/site/topics/show/22-rights-and-permissions-help ) for the new site. She set up a topic for the license in the site basket, but I would use the About basket  (where site policies usually live in Kete sites) for the link to the full license when you create the new license option.
