Turning on Privacy Controls for Entire Site:

Turning on Privacy controls adds a number of options in forms for adding and editing items in Kete.  It also adds the ability to browse or search only private items. If your users  are only going to use private items under specific circumstances, you probably want to only turn on Privacy Controls for individual baskets.

If Privacy Controls are enabled for the site basket, all members of the site will be able to see private items in the default "Site Basket", just not the public at large.

Enabling Privacy Controls in the "Site basket" will make all other baskets inherit the settings by default.  Assuming you are logged in as a Site Administrator, here's how to do it:

  1. click "Home" link from any page
  2. in the "Tools for Basket: Site" box, click "basket preferences"
  3. click the radio button for "Enabled" in the "Privacy Controls" section
  4. follow the forms directions to fill out the rest of the privacy sections as appropriate

Enabling Privacy Controls for a Specific Basket

In most cases, this what you will want.  Follow the above steps, but navigate to the specific basket you want to set up to use Privacy Controls, then click "basket preferences".

After that, only basket members will be able to see private items within that specific basket.
