Could you walk us through the process in a bit more detailed manner, please?

In other words, a list of steps to reproduce the problem, like so:

1. logged in as site administrator
2. used "add item" to create new topic in site basket
3. click on Related Items > create
4. filled out form for adding an image, uploaded image was .jpg
5. on topic page received this, this, and this that demonstrated there was a problem

Obviously you should change your list to match your circumstances.

What I did was:

Great.  Having the steps really helped isolate the problem.  Thank you.

There is some subtly to acquiring the image's correct image file URL. What you pasted in was the image's detail page, rather than the image's file URL.

To acquire the image's file URL do the following:

1. go to the image detail page for the image you want
2. select the image size you want (small, small square, medium, large, or original)
3. right click (or if you have a single button mouse on a mac, control click) on the image itself on the page
4. choose "Copy Image Location" in Firefox, or "Copy Image Address" in Safari from the menu that pops up or in IE choose "properties" and then highlight and copy the URL.
5. go to the topic as you did before and enter the URL into the image tool.

We have had some requests to simplify this process and there are ways to, but it will require development work which has yet to be contributed or funded. Will report back here if it gets implemented.
