Topic: How do I enable the ability to allow my users to add/request their own baskets?

Topic type:

As of 1.2, Kete can be configured to make it so normal users can either add (without approval) or request (site administrator must approve before a basket is available) their own baskets.

Note: you may want to set up basket profiles first, read How do I limit what basket administrators can change or preselect settings for user created baskets?

Here's how to configure this feature in Kete:

  • login as a user that has the Technical Administrator role (i.e. the default administrator account)
  • click on Administrator's Toolbox > reconfigure site link
  • click on Advanced Options
  • click on System
  • replace closed with either open or request in the Basket Creation Policy field
  • click Save
  • restart your Kete site application (this takes access to the machine that your site is hosted on)

After that normal users will have a "add basket" link in the menu bar. If you entered "request" then site administrator's will be notified of pending requests for baskets. Site administrators may also see requested/rejected baskets from the basket directory (all baskets link from V menu next to your name).
